Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum today announced a bonus payout for the employees of the Fiji Ports Terminal Limited (FPTL).
The performance incentive payout of $383,326 for 2016 will be shared amongst 348 employees, who will receive the bonus in their next pay.
The A-G thanked the staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment to improving the services provided by the FPTL.
He also highlighted the need for diverting resources in hard and soft infrastructure as well as human development to increase productivity.
“Government has a long term strategy and goal which is to ensure that Fiji economically becomes the powerhouse of the South Pacific,” the A-G said.
“Because we are a maritime country, we need to ensure that our port system is strong. We also need to ensure that all government entities, ministries and government-owned institutions look after their staff well.”
The A-G urged all the employees to work as a team in improving port efficiency and productivity.
FPTL chairman, Hasmukh Patel said ongoing trainings for employees, guidance and support helped produced desired results of greater productivity and port efficiency.
“The bonus payout for this period has been based on assessment of individual key performance indicators in line with a robust performance management system,” Mr Patel said.
FPTL chief executive, Hasthika Dela said the organisation’s remarkable performance since the inception of public-private partnership in 2013 had led to port productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
