Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum today addressed tertiary students from around the country at the ANZ Innovation Challenge held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
The challenge is an initiative that has attracted university students, leading software experts, designers and entrepreneurs together to collaborate accelerating digital innovation in the Pacific.
The AG urged the students present at the one-day event to learn more and share knowledge to develop the ICT sector in the country.
“Most Government ministries have moved towards digitizing their services and this sort of initiatives will help in developing the ICT sector and more so improving the skill-set amongst our students.”
“During our last budget consultations in the various universities, we have had a lot of submissions on how we can develop the ICT sector, and as you know we have adopted most of the submissions in the 2017-2018 budget.”
The AG also urged the students to become innovative and to become job creators as they will not only create employment for the country but also contribute to the economy.
